Well after my hankie rant, I wanted to give an update. I found a great alternative – Hankettes – SOFT organic cotton hankies made on a co-op in the States (www.hankettes.com).
Sold over this side of the pond by the wonderfully friendly peeps at:

Having finally surrendered to the Winter cold/flu bug, I find myself with a tap-like nose. Having used up the recycled tissues in the house (which, lets face it, are rather harsh on the nose) I thought I would go down the route of big cloth hankies. Surely I could find some modern, soft organic/fairtrade hankies? Answer: NO!
Hankies appear to be very very unfashionable and surprisingly difficult to find. They are really something to give at Xmas by funny aunties, not actually go out and buy.
But find I did. Purchase. Use. And ripped my face off – good grief, paper tissues are softer. Yes even the recycled ones. Can it be that hard?
Greenpeace International have just released a report about how American’s love of soft tissue paper is a huge issue – how about some decent alternatives?
