Having finally surrendered to the Winter cold/flu bug, I find myself with a tap-like nose. Having used up the recycled tissues in the house (which, lets face it, are rather harsh on the nose) I thought I would go down the route of big cloth hankies. Surely I could find some modern, soft organic/fairtrade hankies? Answer: NO!
Hankies appear to be very very unfashionable and surprisingly difficult to find. They are really something to give at Xmas by funny aunties, not actually go out and buy.
But find I did. Purchase. Use. And ripped my face off – good grief, paper tissues are softer. Yes even the recycled ones. Can it be that hard?
Greenpeace International have just released a report about how American’s love of soft tissue paper is a huge issue – how about some decent alternatives?

So the New Year has been and gone. I hit the sales – not like a mad woman possessed, but I did have fun, and Megan’s wardrobe is sorted for the next 6 months. Mostly though I was baffled by the choices and selections on offer, that through sheer confusion, I didn’t buy anything.
So the sales have passed for the most part (apart from going-bankrupt-sales) and I am left in a space between the project and so called normalcy. The question is essentially where to go from here. I dont really want to go back to “the mall”, but I dont want to continue 100% second hand. I have discovered whole areas of eco-fashion and goods that I would like to support. I have found that fair-trade goods have moved on light-years from where they were 5 years ago, and again, I would like to support this.
I would like to continue to live second hand, but building in FairTrade and Ethical shops and product ranges. I then have to question this blog. hopefully it will still be interesting, but different. For those interested, I have also been sucked into the world of Twitter so follow me at http://twitter.com/tammyfurey
